Commissioned into the Regular Army on April 21,1973 as a 2LT from the ROTC Program at the University of Dayton.  Served as a training officer in Fort Knox in the summer of 1973 and attended Hawk Missile school in Fort Bliss, Texas in the fall of 1977.  In January 1974 Assigned to a Hawk Battalion 3/60 of the 32^nd AACOM in Grafenwöhr, Germany where I was a platoon leader, assistant Operations Office and Battalion Operations Officer coordinating 3 firing batteries.  Rose to the rank of Captain and received the Army Meritorious Service Medal upon my leaving service on December 31, 1977
